How to Negotiate Salary in an Interview and Get Paid Your Worth

Negotiating can undoubtedly be daunting, especially if the stakes are high or if you're not used to this type of communication. Many of us find the process such a stressful and unpleasant business that we avoid it completely. Or, if you are like me, you think you ought to have a go at negotiating, but the reality is that your strategy leaves much to be desired.

One of the best ways to increase your income is through salary negotiations, either when you're first offered the job or during a performance review.

There are countless articles and blogs online about salary negotiation tips. I'm not going to offer a summary here. Outside of online information, there have been many great books on negotiation written by top business owners, thought leaders, and even hostage negotiation experts. I've read them, and I have applied some of their techniques and taught them in classrooms.

In this episode, I am going to lay out the framework for getting to a yes on your desired salary.
